Glands and Immunity

The Nervous System and Glandular Balance

This kriya tunes the two halves of your nervous system back into one current. The Saturn finger, the swinging arms, the alternating press, the butterfly, each one speaks directly to a gland and sets it true. You are not stretching. You are returning the body to the balance it was born holding, so that prana and apana meet at the navel and the whole instrument settles.

Pose 1

Sit in Easy Pose with your arms extended straight out to the sides, parallel to the ground, palms facing up. Move only your Saturn finger, the middle finger, up and down rapidly. Drive it with a powerful breath: inhale as you raise the finger, exhale as you lower it. Keep the rhythm, the breath wedded to the movement, for 7 minutes. This stirs the pituitary and draws the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems into balance.

Stay in Easy Pose. Stretch your arms straight out in front, parallel to the ground. Lay your left hand over your right and interlace the fingers, palms facing down. Swing both arms rapidly from side to side, letting your head and neck turn the same way the arms go. Keep your elbows straight. Hold this, the motion married to a powerful breath, for 5 minutes. It makes the body supple enough to take the shock of accidents, strengthens the chest muscle, and stirs the lymph nodes there. It is reported to aid in preventing breast cancer.

Exhale and lower the knees and arms back to the start. Stay rhythmic, the motion bound to powerful breathing, for 8 minutes.
