Channel Energy up the Spine (Sat Kriya)

Sat Kriya is the master key. It takes the raw force coiled at the base of the spine, the sexual fire most people spend or suppress, and pumps it straight up the central channel to the top of the skull. Worked at the navel with the mantra So Hum, it strengthens the whole sexual system, settles the lower three chakras, and gives every internal organ a rhythmic massage while the heart grows strong on the pulse you generate. Practice it daily and you are not exercising, you are preparing the ground of the body to hold a higher charge.

Sit on your heels and stretch both arms straight overhead so the elbows hug the ears (A).

Interlock all the fingers except the index fingers, which point straight up together (B). After a lot of practice you can hold the hands in prayer mudra instead.

Begin to chant So Hum emphatically in a steady rhythm, about eight times every 10 seconds. Sound So from the navel point and solar plexus and pull the umbilicus all the way in toward the spine. On Hum, relax the belly. Do not force mul bhand; it happens on its own when the navel pulls in, so the hips and lumbar spine never rotate or flex, the spine stays straight, and the arms only make a slight up and down stretch as the chest lifts with each So Hum. Continue at least 3 minutes. Then inhale and squeeze the muscles tightly from the buttocks all the way up the back, past the shoulders, and let the energy flow mentally through the top of the skull.
