Mind and Emotion

Activate the Central Nervous System and Stimulate the Pituitary Gland

This kriya works the central nervous system directly, the control center of your whole life, and lights the pituitary at the master gland. You move ida and pingala awake through the breath, you burn off depression and buried anger through the body, and you pull the cord beneath the tongue to send a current straight into the brain. When the set is finished, do not reach for alcohol or coffee or any other stimulant. Rest, hold the energy you raised, and let it heal you, because the inner Self is waiting for you to know it.

Pose 1

Sit in easy pose. Bend your elbows and lift your hands a little higher than shoulder level. Point the index finger, the Jupiter finger, of each hand straight up, and curl the other three fingers into a fist with the thumb on top to lock them in place. Make both Jupiter fingers stiff, hard as steel. Wrinkle your nose up so the upper lip lifts off your teeth. You will look funny. Begin a strong breath through the tip of your nose. This is not as fast as breath of fire, but it must be powerful. Continue for 4 minutes. Holding your focus on the breath through the nostrils and keeping the pressure made by the wrinkled nose wakes the ida and pingala channels.

Sit in easy pose with your hands curled like a lion's claws, palms facing out. Begin to punch with the hands fixed in that claw shape. Shape your mouth into an O and breathe in and out through the O of your lips. Move fast, and the force of your punching hands sets the rhythm of the breath. Use this motion to release your inner anger. Be aggressive in body, mind, and spirit. After 2 1/2 minutes, intensify the motion as if you truly were a lion in a ferocious attack, and continue for another 1 1/2 minutes. Then inhale, hold the breath, tense the entire body, and exhale. Repeat this inhale, hold, and tense two more times. This clears away depression.

Sit in easy pose. Stick your tongue out as far as it will go, and at its full reach clap your hands in front of your chest. Pull your tongue back in. Repeat the tongue stretch and the clap, pull the tongue in, and continue. Stretching the tongue this way pulls the little cord beneath it, and that pull stimulates the central nervous system, the control center of your life. Continue for 3 minutes. Then inhale, stick the tongue out to the maximum, hold the breath for 10 seconds, and exhale. Repeat this two more times to finish the exercise. The effect on the nervous system is gradual and builds in stages. Most people pass the same signposts: after 3 or 4 rounds the back of the tongue starts to

Sit in easy pose and place both hands on your forehead with all eight fingers touching it. The elbows are out to the sides, raised almost level with the forehead. Close your eyes, become calm, and sing along with the chanting from a recording of the dawn mantras. Continue for 18 minutes. Then inhale, concentrate on the point between the eyebrows at the root of the nose, gathering all your energy there, and exhale. Repeat this two more times to finish the exercise.
